Construction Update: Tyee High School
The new Tyee High School is entering the final stretch of construction. Interior work continues with more wall paneling, fixtures and ceiling tiles going in. Wayfinding signs are installed, and sidewalks are poured on the south and east sides of the main classroom wing.
Crews are also making progress on the new athletic field. The concrete curbs are poured, and gravel for the sublayer is being spread in preparation for synthetic turf.
The move from the Olympic Interim Site to the new campus is nearly complete — just the wood shop items remain to be relocated as well as new equipment installed for the wood shop and Core Plus construction class.
Outside, work is underway in the courtyard, where benches and walkways will soon take shape along with landscaping.
What’s Next:
- The building team expects to obtain a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) in late July.
- Athletic field work will continue with compaction of the sublayer.
- Crews are staging and unboxing new furniture as it arrives daily!
- Permits for fire safety, elevator and security systems are in the closeout phase.
- Overhead ductwork continues in the new career and technical education (CTE) spaces.
On Time, On Budget
The Tyee High School project, funded by the 2022 voter-approved bond, is on budget and on track to welcome students in September.
