Highline Public Schools and Highline Education Associate (HEA) have agreed on tentative start dates for hybrid learning. The plan would start in-person learning on March 11.
The proposed start dates are:
- March 11: PreK, kindergarten, grade 1, and students in K-12 Intensive Academic Center (IAC).
- March 22: Grades 2 and 3
- April 1: Grades 4 and 5
The district will communicate with staff and families to confirm these dates on March 3, following the HEA membership vote on March 2.
We recognize the sudden change in timeline is a disappointment for students who were looking forward to returning to school in person and a disruption to all families. Childcare is available to families who need it.
We also recognize that the change in class assignments is not easy for students. However, this was a necessity in order to provide in-person instruction for families who want it and students who need it. Schools will move forward with teacher reassignments in order to provide time to build relationships before hybrid learning begins.
