October Photos Highlight Tyee's Construction Milestones

Transforming Tyee High School for Tomorrow's Students

Construction is in full swing for your new Tyee High School in SeaTac. Discover the latest updates and take a look at our October site photos showing significant progress across all areas of the new school facility.

We are within budget and on schedule to welcome students in September 2025.

Construction Zone Map

The construction zones referred to in the construction progress report correspond to these general building spaces on the map:

  • Areas A1 and A2 together are the L-shaped classroom wing.
  • Area B includes locker rooms, student store, marketing and health sciences classrooms, fitness center, auxiliary gym and activities rooms, plus an extra wide learning stair that connects the first and second floors.
  • Gym is the main gym.
  • Area C2 is the commons/dining area, food services, plus arts and career & technical education classrooms. 
  • Area C1 is the flexible performance space.
  • Area D contains administrative offices and the library.

Construction Progress

  • Exterior brick veneer installation continues in area A2.​
  • The curtain wall system is being installed in Building D.​
  • Exterior framing for areas B and C2 through mid-October. ​
  • Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are being roughed in for all levels of area A1.​
  • Insulation and drywall are installed in area A1, level 1.​
  • Metal roofing has been installed at area C1​.
  • Mass timber roof decking has been installed at area C2.
  • Stormwater chamber trenching and installation started on the north.​

Next Steps

  • Frontage work along South 188th Street, including the installation of a rockery wall.​
  • Continue installation of the stormwater chamber system at the bus loop area.​
  • Continue to install exterior brick veneer in areas A1 and A2.​
  • Overhead mechanical, electrical, plumbing work proceed in area B2.​
  • Insulation and drywall installation progressing to level 2 of area A1 and A2.​
  • Roof drying procedures will be conducted for all buildings, weatherproofing for interior work.​
