Tyee Counseling Center

The SAT and ACT are college admission exams used around the world as a measure of College Readiness. Some colleges have become test optional, and you will need to check the admissions requirements webpage of each college or university that you are interested in to determine their admission requirements. 

The SAT and ACT are offered several times a year. At least half of all students take the SAT and/or ACT twice—in the spring of their junior year and in the fall of their senior year, to try to improve their score. 

Fee waivers are available to students that demonstrate financial need (free and reduced lunch) for both tests. Visit your counseling office for testing schedules, test centers and fee waivers.

Resources for Students & Families

Running Start provides students with the option of attending college in 11th and 12th grade, simultaneously earning of high school and college/university credit.

Students in Running Start may take college courses at any of Washington's community and technical colleges or at Central Washington University, Eastern Washington University, Washington State University and Northwest Indian College.

Most Highline Running Start students attend Highline College or South Seattle College.  

Running Start students and their families do not pay tuition, but they do pay college fees and buy their own books, as well as provide their own transportation.

By earning both high school and college credit, students accelerate their progress through the education system. Students taking a full Running Start course load for two years may earn an associate’s degree by the end of their senior year of high school.

The information you need to request your transcript:

• Your name when you attended school
• Your date of birth
• The name of the last high school you attended
• The year you graduated or last attended
• Your picture ID (your ID must include a picture, date of birth, and a signature) you can bring in your ID, or send in a copy of your ID via email. 
• Mailing information if you request your transcript mailed to you or a 3rd party

Please note diplomas are given out at graduation. We do not have duplicate copies of diplomas.
