High School Transitions Event

We offer a variety of secondary pathways, from maritime studies and aerospace exploration to virtual learning and neighborhood schools. We’re here to help you explore your options so that you’re prepared for the challenges and possibilities of tomorrow.
Join Us at our High School Transitions Event

- Location: Puget Sound Skills Center
Representatives from your neighborhood high school and Schools and Programs of Choice will share about their schools, programs and admission process. Get a clear overview of all your high school options. If something sparks your interest, you can learn more by attending a school-specific information session.
Application support will be available for students and families via breakout rooms—staff will be available to answer questions and guide you through the process step-by-step.

The application window to attend the Tyee Health Science Program for the 2025-26 school year is now open.
Enrollment
The application window for the Tyee Health Science Program is now reopened.
Tyee is accepting incoming 9th-grade students for the new health sciences pathway. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in all Tyee sports, clubs, and extracurricular activities.
Program Highlights
Career Preparation
Students will gain the skills needed for high-wage medical careers, with opportunities to earn Industry Recognized Credentials and pursue college degrees in the medical field.
Foundational Courses
9th and 10th graders will engage in hands-on Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses such as Human Body Systems, Intro to Health Science Careers, and Medical Terminology.
Pathway Options
In 11th and 12th grade, students can choose from:
- Nursing Assistant Pathway: Earn a Nursing Assistant Certification (NAC).
- Pre-Allied Health Pathway: Explore careers like Physical Therapist or Radiologic Technologist.
- College in the High School Pathway: Earn college credits towards a two- or four-year degree in the medical field.
Students will have access to guest speakers, job shadowing, internships, and work-based learning opportunities. We are currently working to secure an industry partner to support the development and launch of this new program.
Work-Based Learning with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health
Virginia Mason Franciscan Health will provide guest speakers, field trips, workshops, volunteer opportunities, and mentorship. VMFH will also serve as a clinical site for students in the Nursing Assistant pathway, offering required hands-on training.
Students will have opportunities to:
- Attend workshops and field trips led by health care professionals.
- Participate in job shadowing and volunteer programs.
- Receive mentorship and professional development.
- Complete hands-on clinical training in the Nursing Assistant pathway.
Learning will take place at various Virginia Mason Franciscan Health facilities, including St. Anne Hospital in Burien and St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, which will also help build a pipeline of young professionals who may wish to practice and grow their careers at both locations when the time comes.
